  • The Personal statement writing skills: What to include and what to leave out!
  • Likely interview questions and group exercises
  • Sample literacy and numeracy papers used at Assessment Days at Universities
  • Current Issues in Nursing and Midwifery to swot up on
  • Recommended reading and Journals
  • Work experience: How to obtain it – Hints and Tips
  • A student's insight into life as a student Nurse or Midwife

 

Afternoon Session: Sample lectures / Clinical seminars from the following:

  • Bereavement in Paediatric Nursing
  • Public Health
  • UNICEF  - The Benefits of Breastfeeding …
  • Birthing Options
  • Nurses and Midwifes: The role of the Educator
  • Birthing Options
  • Mental Health
  • Teenage Pregnancy
  • Eating Disorders
  • School Nursing
  • Health Visiting
  • Neonatal Care

 
These study days are highly interactive and includes group work, DVD’s, props, equipment and debate.

 

The day is Chaired by  Chantal Lockey, a PhD scholar in Midwifery Education and Midwifery Educator of the Year Finalist - The  British Journal of Midwifery Awards 2014), SHELL Women of the Future Awards 2014 and ITV Aftercare specialist. 

 

Sarah and Louise will also offer their experiences as a qualified midwife and also a qualified adult nurse

 

Specialist guest speakers for the Aspiring Days will depend on venue and will range from student midwives and nurses to those with a specialism in across the professions.
