How valuable is Enrichment Activity?


Record one in four graduates in UK awarded top degrees
The proportion of students getting high grades in their degrees rises from 17% to 24% in five years, reaching record levels according to the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA), and this can make it difficult for employers to choose between applicants.  Martin Birchall from High Fliers Research, said some employers no longer required a particular degree classification as “in recent years diversity has become a real issue for many employers and they’re keen to have as broad a spread of applicants for their graduate programmes as possible,” he said. “That means they don’t necessarily want to cut out graduates who did not get a first or a 2:1 but have CVs that are jam-packed with other skills and experiences that may be more relevant in the workplace." Clearly, this points in the direction of students improving their profiles through undertaking a broad range of Enrichment activities.  Never before have these activities had such high value in helping students to differentiate themselves from competing applicants....
