Do we need to change our views on the concept of work/life balance?

So, a gap year now, or when you are 50?!  Retrain later in life and the end to life-long careers, or slower development of skills?  Should we consider that working after 60 will need to part of a future working philosophy, but in the context of keeping or minds switched on, bodies active, and helping to contribute to society as a whole?  These are all interesting questions that challenge current views of working to our 60s, and then retirement.  But things might need to change...
