With the exam results period fast approaching many young
people will be considering their next steps - whether to study further or to
start work immediately. Apprenticeships are an excellent way to earn and
learn at some of the UK’s top companies.
It is also an ideal time for young people to register on the
new Find an apprenticeship vacancy site,
there are up to 25,000 vacancies in more than 170 industries, covering over
1,500 job roles across England (see the
framework factsheet for a
list of the types of apprenticeships available).
The How to write a winning apprenticeship application
guide has been updated and is available on the website for download. It provides step
by step guidance on how to register on the vacancy site. It also gives
hints and tips on tailoring an apprenticeship application to make sure it
stands out from the crowd.
With the growth of higher and degree apprenticeships young
people now have a real alternative to traditional university study. There are
75 higher and degree apprenticeships available including foundation degree HNDs
and full honours degrees. They cover more than 100 different job roles
ranging from legal services to banking, engineering to public relations, with
many more in development.
