How might truancy affect your empoyability?

An article has just been released in the education journal, "Education Studies", quoting from recent research into truancy and the employment outcomes of students.  It concluded that ...
  • Low-level truants were twice as likely to be unemployed at the age of 20
  • high-level truants were four times as likely to be unemployed at the age of 20.
If you have noticed your truancy rates beginning to creep up, perhaps it is time to take stock of the situation and discuss whatever is influencing this decision to let things slip.  There are many sources of support in the college, including:
  • Careers Department
  • Progress Coaches
  • Counsellor
  • Academic Support
  • Teachers
All of the above will take your concerns seriously, and will endeavour to help you overcome whatever obstacles lie in your way.  Think about it - it could have a large impact upon your future.
