Coding App-a-thon, 13/6/15

Are you interested in coding and app development? On Saturday the 13th June, the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute is one of several venues nationwide hosting the BCS App-a-thon. This is a Guinness World Records attempt, organised by the BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT, for the largest collective number of people learning to write Android smartphone applications. It is a family friendly workshop led by female experts who will teach you how to how to build Android apps using MIT AppInventor, a free web-based system for creating simple apps using drag-and-drop coding techniques. The workshop will run between 10am and 3pm. It is open to anyone over the age of 10, however under 16’s must be accompanied by an adult. This is a great opportunity for families to come along and learn basic coding together. All you need to do is bring along lunch, a laptop and ideally an android device such a phone or tablet.
