Sustainable Food at Writtle College

Writtle College now offers:

* Sustainable Food Management courses at Foundation and Undergraduate degree level.

* BSc (Hons) Sustainable Food Management with Marketing & Supply Chain Management or Business Management
* Global Crop Production
* Arable Crop Production
* Farm Livestock Production

* FdSc Sustainable Food Management

* Higher Certificate in Food Studies

Writtle College has developed these courses specifically to offer a holistic approach to Sustainable Food Management, encompassing all aspects of the food supply chain from on-farm production, through processing to marketing and retail. Students will be equipped to enter the food industry in a wide range of careers. The Food Industry as a whole is multi-faceted, covering primary producers, food analysts, packaging & processing technologists, marketing specialists, regulatory bodies and those with a specific interest in aspects of food culture. Of course, we all like our food; the opportunities for well-qualified individuals to enter into the food industry as a profession are becoming more widespread as interest and awareness improves.

"One in four food science and technology roles in the food and drink industry remain unfilled, representing a shortage of more than 2,000 qualified professionals'." - Improve, Food & Drink Sector Skills Council

Predicted roles after graduation include primary food production, food processing, new product development, supply chain, technical and quality assurance and retailer. All options can be studied full or part-time so are ideal for those who wish to study around their job or lifestyle.
