Masterclasses at the University of Cambridge

Subject Masterclasses are subject-specific events that offer students a flavour of undergraduate study and an introduction to the University of Cambridge.

Aimed at academically able Year 12 students from any school/college, the Masterclasses provide students with an opportunity to explore topics of interest beyond what is covered within the A Level syllabus and offer the chance to experience typical undergraduate teaching at Cambridge.

A range of subjects is offered each year, which in the past has included Chemistry, Engineering, Genetics, Geography, History, Languages, Mathematics, Music and Psychology.

Each Masterclass includes:

• two taster lectures delivered by leading academic staff from the University
• the opportunity to discuss and ask questions
• an introduction to the Cambridge admissions process
• the opportunity to hear about life as a Cambridge student from current undergraduates
  When are they?

Subject Masterclasses take place on selected days throughout the year. The majority of Masterclasses start at 10.30am and finish at 3.30pm

Rail Week 2017 - opportunities for students

Wrong! Next week is Rail Week 2017. It aims to bust loads of myths about what working in rail is really like. These myths could be standing between you and your dream job! So here we’ll answer your questions about careers in rail – plus join our Rail Week forum today to question top employers directly!   1. Is it all about tracks? Working in rail is all about engineering, right? And I would spend all day out on the tracks? Nope! In fact, there are loads of different career routes in the sector that many people aren’t aware of. Everything from customer service and marketing to interior design and even archaeology are possible.  Learn more about careers in rail.   2. Is it only for people with a particular skillset? Most people think you have to be excellent at science and maths to get a job in rail. But in fact there are jobs for young people with a wide range of skill sets – from great communication skills to adaptability.
