There’s this silly myth that to become a lawyer you have to go to university. This couldn’t be further from the truth and vocational learning in law is winning awards.
In 2011, The Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEx) and the College of Law helped national law firm Irwin Mitchell set up an in-house training programme for their Law and Business School. Just last month it won the ‘Education and Training Initiative of the Year’ award at the British Legal Awards.
President of CILEx, Nick Hanning, was of course over the moon to see CILEx and its partners recognised in this way: “We were thrilled to win this award. CILEx has been providing exceptional vocational training in law for almost 50 years and we are absolutely committed to ensuring law firms have access to flexible training programmes, like the one we have helped set up with the College of Law and Irwin Mitchell.”
So what does this mean for you? Well it demonstrates the reputation we have gained during our 50 years as an education provider. Over 80 centres offer our established qualifications (some through distance learning), which can be used to become a fully qualified lawyer. We are also working to create nationally recognised legal apprenticeships similar to the one that won the recent award.
CILEx really is the best route to a career in law. The fees are affordable: the full route costs from £4,500 to £7,500 spread over the duration of your studies. And as you ‘earn whilst you learn’ on the job, your pockets will fill up with money as your brain fills up with knowledge. Parents don’t miss out either; when you qualify as a Chartered Legal Executive they can join you at our graduation ceremony.
So we’re winning awards, and you could too. Studying with CILEx isn’t just about getting the grades you need to pass. We encourage you to do your best at every step of the way. Each year we recognise the student with the highest grades with our ‘Student of the Year’ award. Just think how great that would look on your CV if that was you?
