Step onto the career ladder with CGI’s Degree Apprenticeship/Grad Level Apprenticeship and get a free degree with all tuition fees paid for (as well as your books!). You’ll study at University on campus part time towards either a BSc (Hons) in Digital & Technology Solutions with either a Business Management or Technical/IT focus or a BSc (Hons) Software Development.
You’ll work at CGI – the 5th largest independent IT Services provider in the world - enabling you to start your professional career whilst earning a starting salary of £14,100. You get given a phone and laptop which you can use for Uni too and lots of support you need to succeed – you really do get the best of both worlds.

Also it’s independent to UCAS, so if you have applied or are planning to directly to UCAS, applying through CGI’s website will not take up one of your options.
 
 
 
 
You need to have or be predicted to get 300 UCAS points (or equivalent) along with a genuine interest in technology and the drive to work hard and study at the same time.

Opportunities for girls in Y12 or 13, who are interested in investment banking

For students interested in a gap year or work experience in Canada


International Experience Canada (IEC) is a working holiday visa in Canada program. It allows people from many different countries under 35 years of age to work in Canada for a temporary period, of one or two years. Citizens of participating countries can now begin creating their 2016 profile.  The immigration department at the High Commission is hosting an online information session on the ‘International Experience Canada (IEC)’ program. An officer will present and answer questions on IEC; valuable information for young people interested in a gap year in Canada.

The High Commission of Canada is hosting a webinar on traveling and working in Canada, with particular focus on the International Experience Canada (IEC) program. IEC provides youth with the opportunity to travel and work in Canada.  An official from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada will present information and answer your questions live. Please note that this session will be conducted in English; however, the question period will be bilingual, English and French.

LGBT Careers Guide available at the Careers Desk in the LRC

Stonewall's Starting Out Careers Guide, 2016/17 is now available at the Careers Department in the LRC and may be of particular interest for LGBT students.
 
Information includes:
  • Articles about being LGBT in the workplace
  • tips for finding inclusive employers
  • Overviews of different sectors
  • Diversity Champions (employers who demonstrate commitment to their LGBT staff)
The guide is available on the Careers shelves next to the Careers desk, in the section highlighted as "Need help in preparing for Employment?"

We are pleased to have Pathway CTM visiting college today and tomorrow.  They are an organisation who specialise in helping students come into contact with employers, and offer a broad range of activities that can help students to realise their potential and start making good contacts with the business world.  Careers Events, Seminars, Work Experience, Video CVs etc.; all are available in the coming months, so go and speak to them to find out more.


Companies they currently work with include Sky, AXA Insurance, Pwc , so there are lots of opportunities for you to start making connections and hopefully moving in a direction that works for you.
