Internship description

We love taking interns – we’ve done it several times before and have always found them to be great contributors to the company’s work. We’re therefore offering several positions this summer – we’re open to applications from students between A levels and university; final year students on undergraduate courses; masters or PhD students; or recent graduates.

If you’re successful, you’ll be working alongside our team for 6-10 weeks this summer in our Cambridge office, located a stone’s throw from the historic city centre. You’ll get experience of a wide range of activities as you contribute to our work, and you’ll also take responsibility for an independent project to complete during your internship.

As an intern, you’ll work in a specific area of Business Development Analytics:

-      Role: You’ll be part of the market-building team, using your own initiative to hunt for the right people for us to be contacting and building new workflows for us to try in our outreach process. You’ll be trained to use Linkedin navigator, salesforce, salesloft and hubspot. 

Once you’re here, we’ll decide together on a topic for your independent project. In this way, we can tailor a project to your individual strengths, and find something that you are excited about and will help you develop the skills you want to focus on, while also being valuable to our business. About you

-          You could be at any stage of your post A-level education. 

-          Ability for creative problem-solving is essential for anyone working with us. We’re a small and quickly expanding company, and things move fast – we come up against new situations all the time, and you should be innovative and proactive in how you get us through them.

-          Relevant education.

-          Importantly, you have a desire to work in a startup, and enthusiasm to develop your skills working on real-world problems.

Compensation & details of employment

-          Interns will be paid at a rate of £21,000 per annum pro rata dependent on role and experience – that’s £4,000 for a 10-week internship.

-          Employment will be for 6-10 weeks – we’re flexible within this range, and flexible on your start date.

-          Please note, at the point of advertising this position we are working remotely as a company due to the Coronavirus.  We are unsure, at this time how long this policy will be implemented.  Therefore, we would like to make all applicants aware that this may well be a remote internship.  You will be provided with a laptop and any other equipment required to be effective.  This is a fully supported role, so whilst you may be working from home, you will be in constant contact and support with the team and your mentor.

What is a business operations apprentice role? 

A business operation apprentice position might involve:

•     Working on delivering new and efficient processes

•     Ensuring the products we deliver are compliant with laws and policies
•     Analyse data and create dashboards that provide insights to deliver tangible improvements to our partners

This Chartered Management Degree Apprenticeship is a full time contractor role for four years. We offer this role in conjunction with our training partner Anglia Ruskin University (ARU) who will give formal training throughout the programme which you can apply to your role within Arm. You will work alongside experienced staff 4 days per week and have 1 day a week for study fully supported by both your Arm team and a mentor. Towards the end of the placement you will submit an end point assessment as a summary of your work. The combination of the formal training, the day to day training and end point assessment will provide you with Chartered Management Degree (BA Hons).

Building a business within the creative industries: An evening with Flora Alexandra Ogilvy

Flora Alexandra Ogilvy is the founder of Arteviste, which helps companies to inspire their audiences by engaging with the contemporary art world. They create editorial, video, and events-based content with a focus on the younger end of the market for clients such as Soho House, Artnet and Frieze. Recent press includes The Daily Telegraph and W Magazine.

Flora also lectures on art and business at Christie’s, Sotheby’s, The Courtauld and Imperial College as well as writing for publications such as Artnet, Lula Magazine and Suitcase. Her focus is on empowering students with a lack of experience or resources to understand how they can use technology and networking to build a successful business within the creative industries.

Alongside internships at Sotheby’s and Christie’s, Flora started her business during her History of Art degree. As well as being an entrepreneur, she is also described as a motivational speaker, curator, art dealer, and journalist. Exploring multiple revenue streams and managing your money effectively is at the core of start-up culture - a practical issue explored during her lecture.

With a focus on building a business within the creative industries, Flora will offer advice on building an online presence, navigating social media, professional relationships, public speaking, and networking as well as questions like choosing a workspace or developing a routine. All of this information will combine with insight into the contemporary art market itself.

How do I get to West Court, Jesus College?

The entry to West Court is directly on Jesus Lane, near to the intersection with Park Street. Please DO NOT ENTER through the main entrance to the Porters’ Lodge, known as "the Chimney”. A map is included below to assist you in finding our entrance.

What transport options do I have?

There is no on-site car parking at Jesus College for those attending our events. There is limited on-street parking outside the College and the Park Street Car Park is very close. There are also multiple Park and Ride options to the City Centre, a short walk from the College.

A regular train services runs to Cambridge from London’s Kings Cross Station, London Liverpool Street Station and many other mainline UK stations. The College is located approximately 2 miles (3.2 kilometres) from the railway station. Buses run about every 10 minutes and there is a taxi rank outside the station and one here in the city centre for your return.

What time do I need to arrive?

We ask that you arrive 15 minutes before the event, and no later than the face time on your ticket. We may not admit latecomers, especially if seating is now full or filming is taking place. Our staff will be on site to validate tickets and so it would be helpful to have either an electronic or printed form of your ticket with you. Please also bring photographic ID for validation.

Does my ticket guarantee entry?

Unfortunately not everyone who receives a ticket turns up on the day and so we have to over-issue tickets to ensure a full event. We decide carefully how many tickets to issue as it is important to have a full event but the last thing we want to do is disappoint people. In order to be as fair as possible we admit ticket holders on a first come first served basis. It is helpful to us if you cannot attend that you cancel your ticket. More accurate numbers mean less overbooking in the future and reduce the risk that people with tickets will be denied entry. For some events we may be able to ticket at the door and this will be advised to the waitlist. Please join the waitlist if the event is sold out and we will let you know if this will be an option.

What can I bring with me?

There are coat hooks around our building, but there are no storage or coat minding facilities and we cannot take any responsibility for items left unattended. Mobile phones are allowed, but must be silenced or placed on airline mode during the event. Flash photography is prohibited.

What if I have access requirements?

West Court is access friendly and there are hearing loops. Please let us know about any access requirements at least three days in advance of any event via if-coordinator@jesus.cam.ac.uk. There is limited permit disabled parking, and again this must be prearranged. The building has extensive access-friendly bathroom facilities, and some limited seating in the waiting area.

Is there food or drink available?

For refreshments, our College Cafe or Bar will often be open across the courtyard selling drinks and food around our events.
