Bubble Jobs have launched a new Digital Career Portal

Designed to help young people realise their digital potential. This not-for-profit part of the site has been created to provide invaluable information to anyone interested in a career in the digital industry. Featuring a career finder quiz which matches candidates up to their ideal digital jobs based on their skills to career path guides which map jobs to relevant A-Levels and university degrees. The site is a great resource for any careers team that wants to help their students secure a job in one of the fastest growing industries in the UK.

The completely revised Unistats website (http://unistats.direct.gov.uk/) provides extensive information for over 31,000 courses in the UK, including student satisfaction ratings, graduate salaries and employment, tuition fees and financial support, and the cost of accommodation.

Voted the top graduate employer for a record-breaking ninth consecutive year, PwC is welcoming the last of the 1,200 new graduate joiners through its doors this October, BUT NOT JUST GRADUATES!
 
With over 22,000 applications received for graduate roles starting this year, the aspiring accountants faced stiff competition to secure their place.  Across all student programmes, the firm received a record 35,500 applications for nearly 1,800 places, split by 1,200 graduate, 100 school leaver and almost 500 paid internship opportunities, which includes partner shadowing and work placements.

National Minimum Wage update

Know your rights!

The following new rates came into force on 1st October 2012:
£6.19 per hour for workers aged 21 and over
£4.98 per hour for workers aged 18-20 (no change)
£3.68 per hour for workers above school leaving age but under 18 (no change)
£2.65 per hour for apprentices

Employment Outlook Stronger


The UK’s employment outlook now stands at its best level since 2008 according to Manpower Group. Employers in Wales report the most optimism with a +15% outlook. The southern half of the UK continues to perform well with the South West reporting an outlook of +5%, the East of England +4%, and the South East +3%. Businesses in London retain a positive outlook of +2%.

Yorkshire and Humberside fell to -8%, Scotland at -2% and the North West is down at -3%. The North East reports an outlook of +9%. The East Midlands remains at +6%, and the West Midlands is at +5%.
