Operating Department Practitioner (ODP), Open Day, Queen Elizabeth Foundation Trust Hospital.
Monday 2nd March 2020 Two sessions:
09:30-11:30am and 13:00-15:00pm
ODPs enjoy a varied and important role inside and outside of the Queen Elizabeth Foundation Trust Hospital.
Activities on the day may include:
• Looking at surgical instruments
• Taking part in a simulated laparoscopic operation
• Speaking to current ODPS
• Checking the airway of simulation mannequins
• Opportunity to promote the little know profession of an ODP in surgical theatres

Addenbrookes Open Day for Allied Healthcare Professionals

On 28 September Cambridge University Hospitals will be
holding an open day for anyone interested in a career as an Allied Healthcare
Professional (AHP). Allied Healthcare Professionals are the third largest
workforce within the NHS, providing treatment and help to rehabilitate
adults and children who are ill, have disabilities or special needs, to live
life as fully as possible. Working as an Allied Healthcare Professional offers
a wide range of career opportunities, whether you are interested in science, the
arts, sport or psychology, you are sure to find something that suits you.
The following areas will be at the open day, talking
about their experiences of working at CUH, offering educational talks about
what is they do, and explaining how you can train to become an AHP. Some areas
will be offering a tour of their departments including a mock operating
theatre. There will also be lots of opportunities to have a go at using some of
the specialised equipment we use here to help our patients.

Pharmacy Open Day at Addenbrookes, 6/7/19
With nearly 250 staff members, our Pharmacy services teams at
Addenbrooke’s and the Rosie Hospital play a vital part in our patient's care
and recovery.
On Saturday 06 July 2019 we will be holding our first ever Pharmacy Open
Day. The day is open to everyone, whether you already work within pharmacy, are
about to qualify, considering a career within this field, or just want to have
a look around and find out more, including our apprenticeship opportunities.
There will be lots of interactive activities taking place including our
‘clinical trial’ Tastes & Colour – Can you tell the difference in taste,
chocolate vs fruit when blindfolded?! Come and see how we store and supply the
medical leeches and speak to staff about the many ways in which they help
deliver clinical care to our patients.
No need to book, just turn up!

Tours & Demonstrations
- There will be a number of departmental tours including our operating departments with a number of hands on demonstrations and workshops taking place. Find out from cardiology what an abnormal heart rate looks like, ‘gown and glove up’ with our operating theatres, see some of the bespoke equipment used to help patients in oncology, learn how our paediatric teams use ‘playing’ as a way to help our younger patients through their treatment and get your arm plastered with the emergency team! These are just a few of the activities that will be taking place on the day.
As Royal Papworth will be joining the biomedical campus in
the next few months, they will also be in attendance at this event.
