You have a business plan and are ready to go into business.  You next step could be seeking finance.
BUT... Are you concerned your idea won’t fly and worried that your business plan won't take you where you need to go?  You are asking yourself, is this good enough? Am I ready to take on the finance needed?  I think so, but what do I need to do?
If this is you, join us for a free half-day specialist ‘readiness for finance workshop designed to give you the tools and skills to complete your business plan AND apply for finance with us at Fredericks London actually in the workshop. All attendees will have the opportunity prepare the online funding application for Fredericks Foundation, with support and help from the London Loan Manager.  Places are limited to only 10 people, ready to prepare an application for finance and already have made a start on their business plan.
You'll get expert advice, help and encouragement in the following areas:

ROTARY CLUB OF CAMBRIDGE - Gap Year Funding Award

Eligibility: Open to students in year 13 of schooling (2014-2015) or equivalent in Further Education in a school or college in the Cambridge area.

 

­Purpose: To encourage the principle of ‘service above self’ by supporting one or more students undertaking a gap year project in an overseas location and which involves an element of community service.

 

The Award: Up to £500 may be awarded to a student (or students) to support the cost of the project. A team of up to three students may apply collectively.

 

Criteria:

 

• The project must include a significant element of service to the local overseas community or to a section within it.
• It is recognised that the work undertaken will very likely be in association with an established international or overseas charity; however preference will be given to those planning the trip themselves, rather than using a gap year organisation.
• Projects may be from 1 month to 9 months duration.
• Students must have shown initiative and commitment in raising, or planning to raise, other funds for their trip.
• The project may be undertaken from July 2015 onwards but must be completed by June 2016
• Following their return, students must be prepared to attend a meeting of the Rotary Club of Cambridge to give an account of their trip and the project undertaken.

 

Procedure for applications:

 

• Applications are to be submitted to The Rotary Club of Cambridge, c/o Rotarian Rosemary Turner, 22b Mingle Lane, Cambridge CB22 5SY by Monday 9 February 2015.

 

• Applications should include name, address, age of student, details of the planned trip, name and address of any charity involved, motivation and reasons for undertaking the project, full budget with an indication of how any remainder of funds required will be raised.

Short-listed applicants will be invited for interview during March 2015.

 

Awards will be announced in April 2015.

For those of you who may be applying for a university course funded by the NHS, UCAS advise that students view the details provided on nursing courses on the UCAS website - www.ucas.com/students/choosingcourses/specificsubjects/nursing - for the latest information in relation to the provision of these courses, it is also important to view the institutions own website too.

Please note that an earlier post stating applications for funding for University in 2011 can begin from 14th February was inaccurate.

We have now been informed that 14th February is the application date for existing University students. 

All students from this college who are applying for University for the first time should begin applying from 16th March, 2011.
