ICT Company advertising Apprenticeships for a September start...


Domino UK Ltd are launching an Apprenticeship Scheme with a September start. The 8 apprenticeships positions currently available are:

  • 3 Engineering
  • 2 Sales
  • 2 Business Administration – rotations include Marketing, HR, Estates and Finance
  • 1 IT

Summer School for students interested in working in property


Help your students discover where a career in property could take them
The Pathways to Property Summer School (25–28 July) is a free programme held at the University of Reading for Year 12 students in UK state schools and colleges who would like to find out about a career in property: a £9 billion industry which employs over 100,000 people in the UK. Apply today
The programme
The Summer School offers a wide range of activities such as:
  • Exploring current themes in property such as sustainability, housing issues and regenerating cities
  • Taking part in lectures, seminars, talks and site visits led by staff and students from the School of Real Estate and Planning at the University of Reading (one of the leading institutions in the world for teaching and research in real estate and planning)
  • Developing an understanding of the career opportunities in property
  • Meeting and working with industry professionals from some of the leading firms in the UK
  • Learning more about student life and study in higher education by staying in halls of residence and taking part in campus tours and evening activities
How much does it cost?
It’s free! There are no costs to attend. Food, accommodation and travel costs are all covered by Pathways to Property.

Training Scheme for 18-25 year olds intrerested in documentaries and/or factual programme making


The Grierson Trust DocLab is an all paid for training scheme for young people aged 18-25 who are interested in working in documentaries and/or factual programme making.   Run by The Grierson Trust, it seeks to support and find new voices not currently represented on our screens, and to provide new entrants the financial support to enable them to pursue a career in this sector.  Production companies that are supporting the scheme include:  Century Films (Mumbai High: The Musical); Lightbox (Man on Wire and Searching for Sugar Man), The Garden (24 Hours in A&E) and Minnow Films (SAS: Who Dares Wins).

We are interested in applications from a range of backgrounds - by that we are not solely seeking individuals who have studied film and media.  Last year we had trainees from different parts of the UK, who had studied physics, English, history and geography amongst other subjects.  In other years, we have had non-graduates and unemployed young people on the programme. 

Successful applicants will access:

  • A 4 day residential training lab in Birmingham
  • Attending the Sheffield Doc Festival
  • A Shoot/Edit training weekend
  • 2 week paid placement with a production company
  • An industry mentor
  • Receive ongoing bespoke support to help with next steps

 
All costs (travel, expenses, attending selection day, etc.) will be paid for by The Grierson Trust, wherever the young person is based in the UK. .

We are now taking applications and the closing date is 5pm Tues 29 March.  If the applicant is shortlisted they will be invited to Birmingham for the selection day on Thurs 21 April; and those who are successful are then invited back to Birmingham in May for the residential.
